22-3. Advanced 3D Model Detailing with special guest Timothy Ball, RIBA

ArchiCAD Training (Best Practices Lesson 22-3)

In this ArchiCAD training lesson we look at advanced methods to add detail to your model so your sections and elevations look perfect without adding any 2D linework. Our special guest is architect Timothy Ball from the UK, a veteran ArchiCAD user who has been pushing the limits of the software – it is quite inspiring.

    Hi Eric,

I was watching your presentation with Tim this afternoon and – at around 50min mark – you had an issue with a complex profile.
You were trying to get rid of five rogue editing points on one side of a fill in Tim’s file.

I had stumbled on the same problem when updating a profile and I was just as puzzled as yourselves. It took me a while to realize that, when updating, all the fills in the profile will inherit all the adjacent fills’ editing points.
What I’m trying to say is that, if you select the adjacent fill you will see (probably from previous fiddling) it will most likely have five editing points on the common side as well.

Basically, if you want to clean a complex profile, you will have to check and fix all redundant editing points on ALL common sides of ALL adjacent fills.
    And then update the profile.

Please let me know if this solves the issue.

    Kind regards,
    Anton
